Q: I bought candles from a local department store. I sniffed them..and loved the scent. I took them home and lit them only to find that the candle had very little scent. Do you have any idea why this happened?
A: Chances are, you have just became the victim of something called "double dipping." "Double dipping"is the practice where they take a candle with no or little scent..and dip it a second time into wax with a stronger scent. You then think you are getting that scent throughout the candle. With Buckeye Scent-Sations' candles, you get a quality product that smells great from the first burn to the last.
Q: What do you think offers the best scent, blossoms and jelly beans? Or votives?
A: Actually they are all made with the same wax and same amount of scent. The only thing different is their shape and with the votives it's wicks vs. wickless. I think anything done in a burner gives off more scent. I don't know why, maybe there's more area that's heated at one time? But per ounce they all should be the same. The only ones that use a different wax are the jars.
Q: How many jelly beans are you supposed to use in a warmer?
A: It all depends on the scent and the area you want to brighten up. I know at work, my office is 12 x 12 and I put 1 bean in every couple hours and the room smells great. It's just something you have to define for yourself, for your liking. If you want a stronger room, you would put in more beans. Becky usually uses 3 beans and she can smell them throughout the downstairs. 10 beans = 1 tart or blossom.
Q: Do you use lead wicks?
A: No, our wicks are zinc cored wicks. We never use lead.
Q: How do you use the Fragrance Oils sold on the Candle Accessories page?
A: These oils can be used for MANY things.
1. Those of you that use the jars as wickless candles and place them on burners, know that eventually the fragrance is burned out of the wax and you're left with unscented wax in a jar. You can buy that scent (in a 1 or 2 ounce bottle) and add scent back into that wax. You simply (use the formula of 1 ounce per 16 ounce of wax) add in the scent and stir. So if you have a 4 ounce jar, you could refresh that wax 4 times with a one ounce bottle of our scent!!! You can save money that way and you also don't end up with all those jars of unscented wax.
Another tip for those that use the jars in this way, get yourself a wood skewer and once a day when the scent starts fading, just stir it gently and it will bring the fragrance from the bottom of the jar to the surface.2. These scents are used with the house and car diffusers. You only need about 5 - 10 drops. It really depends on where and what degree of scent you want.
3. Use the scents for your light bulb rings. Several drops are added and then place your bulb ring on the light bulb. (The bulb rings and diffusers are sold on our Candle Accessories page.)
4. I have been known to place about 10 drops of the scent (depending on how strong the scent is and where I use my melter) on the glass/tin/ceramic melter instead of waxed tarts.
5. I have also been known to put a few drops in the wastebasket or garbage cans after I've cleaned them out. It gives them such a fresh smell. You'll actually like to 'take out the trash'.
6. These scents can be added to potpourri to 'refresh' them.
Q: Do you ship during the hot summer months?
A: Yes we do. We've shipped to Florida, Georgia, Arizona, Texas, California and even Hawaii during the summer months without a problem. We never had candles that melted during shipping. We do use a 'cold pack' shipping method and ship priority (2 day) shipping during the summer months.
Q: What types of payment do you accept?
A: We accept Paypal (Which includes Visa, Master Card, Discover, and American Express.), checks and money orders. We do not ship until payment is received for first time customers.
Q: How do I clean the bowl of the melter?
A: To clean wax from dish (whether it's the glass, tin or ceramic), wait until wax solidifies, put the dish (only) in the freezer for a few minutes, then remove wax with a non-metallic object. Using a metal knife or similar object may scratch, crack or otherwise damage the burner dish.
| If you accidentally spill wax on a counter top, table or stove, let it cool. Once hardened, use a plastic spatula to scrape it off the surface.
Accidental spills on carpets and/or walls. Let the wax cool completely. Try to scrape off as much wax as you can. Then place a paper towel or brown paper bag over the spill. Use a warm iron and blot it over the paper. Change the paper frequently as it absorbs the wax. Take care not to let your iron get too hot as it could damage the surface you are trying to save. Please note that the candle dyes may deeply penetrate walls and carpets leaving a permanent stain. |
